Mellow & toasty
Yunnan tea bags
Some people will go a long way for a good cup of tea...
Way back, the Tibetans trekked on horses from their snowy highlands to the temperate hills of Yunnan. It was a hard road, and the weather was very wet, but it was worth it for the trade: furs, musk and of course tea.
What could be better after a hard day's travelling than a refreshing cup of Yunnan? It's mellow and toasted flavour is especially good after dinner, but it's really up to you what time of day you drink it.
The Journey from the tea garden to your cup...
When it comes to tea we're a little different from everybody else. The way we buy and blend is unique; we choose from more origins than anyone else and have a master blender dedicated to each of these locations. What they don't know about their tea gardens and where to find the best quality, isn't worth knowing. It is said that 7 is lucky number, for us it's the number of times the master blenders taste each batch to make sure that the quality from its exotic origin reaches your cup.
Yunnan, in South West China is well known for it's magically fertile land and spectacular fields of beautiful flowers. It may be no surprise then to learn that Yunnan is where tea was born over 2000 years ago, and many of the ancient tea trees are still nurtured and picked from today. Our master blenders have a long standing relationship with the Yunnan tea gardens and choose teas from higher elevations in late spring to ensure that every cup has a distinctive mellow taste and fantastic depth of flavour.
If you like your tea smooth with a hint of something else, we think you'll also like Twinings Jasmine Green Tea and Twinings Keemun.
