Vines were planted in this region by the Romans as early as the 2nd century, and since then Saint Emilion has become famous worldwide for its richly flavoured and velvety smooth red wines. Made from the classic trio of Bordeaux grape varieties: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, this wine has aromas of blackcurrant and cherry, followed by a palate brimming with plum and bramble fruits. It finishes with elegant warming spice flavours gained from maturation in oak barrels. Perfect with a Sunday roast leg of lamb or for any special occasion
