Wine of South Eastern Australia
Verdelho Wine Australian Wine
Traditionally an old world varietal, the Verdelho grape is also grown in South Eastern Australia where it thrives in the hot climate. The McWilliam's winemakers believe this is the perfect refreshing wine with flavours of orange and lemon zest.
The 2011 Verdelho is full of tangy, vibrant citrus characters that burst along the palate with lifted orange and lemon zest. This a medium bodied wine with soft acidity that will compliment savoury seafood and mediterranean style dishes. Best served chilled.
Samuel McWilliam planted his first vines in 1877 on a plot of land identified "as being the road to Hayfield". From this small vineyard, a tradition of winemaking quality was born that continues to live today. The McWilliam's Hayfield wines are varietally expressive, easy to appreciate and versatile with food.
This wine has tropical notes of pineapple and melon with hints of herb. It is fresh with a creamy finish.

After being harvested the free run juice is then left to settle and then ferments in stainless steel tanks. The wine spends 2 weeks on the lees after fermentation to provide texture and weight on the palate, the wine is then finally ready to be bottled.
