The 2014 Chardonnay fruit was excellent, the flavours were concentrated, yet not over-ripe and the acidity provided and excellent structural back-bone. The 2014 shows a sense of refinement in its balance.
Established in 1985, Cloudy Bay was one of the first five wine makers to venture into Marlborough. At the time, it was almost an unimaginable place to set-up a vineyard. But Cloudy Bay's founder - David Hohnen - was convinced of its potential to produce great wine and invested in the best land of the region. Since then, Marlborough has risen to become New Zealand's leading wine region, as well as one of the finest winemaking locations in the world.
True to Marlborough, alluvial soils predominate through the vineyards. In New Zealand, nearly all wine growing regions are close to the ocean. These coastal locations experience long sunshine hours, sea breezes and cool nights - providing an ideal growing environment and an extended ripening period.
This wine is ideal for drinking now but can be kept for up to 4 years
