Description

Tarrango - Red Australian Wine

The grape variety of Touriga, originally from Portugal, was crossed with Sultana to make this unique Australian grape variety, Tarrango. A refreshing, bold rosé style wine with flavours of redcurrant, cranberry and a hint of spice.

John Graham Brown inherited a natural curiosity to explore, through the planting of new vineyards, dealing with diverse climates and the development of a research winery, called the Kindergarten. His passion for wine, led the way with innovative wine styles and grape varieties from across the globe.

Grape Variety:

Tarrango

Vinification Details:

The fruit was harvested in parcels in early March. The carbonic maceration proportion in this blend is 19%. It was then blended with other parcels and bottled. Carbonic maceration is a technique used most famously in Beaujolais where the fermentation of whole bunches means most of the juice is fermented whilst inside the grape, leading to a low tannin, fruity wine with a refreshing spicy element.

History:

Founded in 1889 by John Francis Brown, it was under the guidance of his son, John Charles Brown, that Brown Brothers established its reputation as a producer willing to experiment with innovative grape varieties. This experimentation and sense of adventure carries across the whole business and can be seen at our cellar doors from Milawa to Tasmania.

Regional Information:

Mystic Park Vineyard is located in the sun-drenched Murray Valley, halfway between Kerang and Swan Hill. It is the Brown Brother's warmest growing site that has become crucial in the development of wine styles unique to Brown Brothers.
