Vinification Details
The grapes used for this wine are harvested and vinified separately. The vinification is done in stainless steel tanks to preserve the ripe fruit flavours and rich aromas that contribute to the style of the wine. When the winemaker has finished the fermentation he blends the wines together relying on years of expertise and experience to make the ripe and complex style that signifies Canti.
History
Winemaking has been taking place in Puglia for centuries and the region is renowned for its production of deep, fruity and ripe red wines. Canti has harnessed the quality of the climate and soils to make a great wine by blending a traditional Puglian grape variety in Negroamaro and an international variety that is well suited to the region in Zinfandel. The wine is based on the traditional flavours of the region but has a modern texture to make it more versatile for contemporary tastes.
Regional Information
Puglia is known as the heel of Italy and is one of the hottest regions of the mainland peninsular. It is a very hilly region and the steep slopes provide greater exposure to the vibrant sunlight which helps the fruit flavours to develop. The wind and altitude temper the heat and help to preserve the more subtle elements of flavour and freshness in style.
