The grapes are grown in the Monferrato hills in the South of the Asti province. They are fermented under pressure to create the delicate bubbles. The fermentation is stopped to retain the natural sweetness of the grapes.
Under the guidance of winemaker Claudio Manera, Araldica is now Piemonte's largest and most progressive co-operatives controlling 900 hectares of vines. They have recently added two single estates, and their reputation for quality grows each year.
If you head north east from Alba you will enter the hilly DOC region of Asti. When used solely on it's own the name Asti refers to the well-known sweet sparkling wine Asti Spumante.
This wine can be drunk now but will further improve if carefully stored for up to 1 year
