Ceylon tea bags
Ceylon, also known as The Pearl of the Indian Ocean, has a changeable varied climate; it can be brilliant sunshine on one side of the island but monsoons on the other. We buy more Ceylon tea than anyone else in the UK and have been sourcing this tea for over 3 centuries, giving us an in depth understanding of these growing seasons and their movement from east to west and back again. With this knowledge, we choose the highest quality handpicked tea at just the right time for a superb light, delicate tea.
The journey from the tea garden to your cup...
When it comes to tea we're a little different from everybody else. The way we buy and blend is unique; we choose from more origins than anyone else and have a master blender dedicated to each of these locations. What they don't know about their tea gardens and where to find the best quality, isn't worth knowing. It is said that 7 is a lucky number, for us it's the number of times the master blenders taste each batch to make sure that the quality from its exotic origin reaches your cup.
If you like to drink your tea light and mellow, we think you'll also like Twinings Darjeeling and Twinings Lemongrass & Eucalyptus.

Ethical Tea Partnership
We care about the communities where our tea is grown and picked and this is why we are a founder member of the Ethical Tea Partnership, which works to improve tea workers' welfare and the environment in which they live.
Twinings have also supported a range of projects since 2004, including improving health services and nutrition, providing access to clean water, better education and assisting children with disabilities. Together with our partners we have helped over half a million children in China and India. To find out more about our projects visit www.twinings.co.uk
Way back, when Sri Lanka was still called Ceylon...
The island's economy was in crisis. Nothing to do with tea, but with the sudden failure of the coffee crop. A good idea was needed, and the idea was tea.
The hot, tropical climate gave the tea a bright amber colour and a flavour that refreshes with every sip. The tea plantations thrived, coffee was forgotten, but the name for the tea will always be remembered. Ceylon.
