The Fergus - Red Australian Wine
"The Fergus" is named after our neighbour, Fergus Mahon, who kindly sold us his Grenache grapes in 1993 during a desperate shortage of Shiraz and Cabernet. We quickly realised the potential of this medium bodied, luscious wine style.
This vintage consists of Grenache, Tempranillo and Malbec from the dry-grown vineyards of the Mahon family and from our own.
Fermentation on skins for seven days preceded pressing and then maturation in a mixture of French and American oak for 24 months. The wine is aromatic and spicy, with mouthfilling flavour and fine tannins. Particularly good with duck, turkey, lamb and game.

The wine has lifted red berry aromas and flavours of Tempranillo, with further complexity of Grenache spiciness. Malbex adds mid palate richness and flavours of berries and violets. It is a mouth filling wine that may be kept for up to 10 years.
