Product information

This Shiraz Viognier has an attractive lifted nose with a palate of ripe berry fruits, violets, apricot and musk.

This Shiraz Viognier is a smooth, juicy, fruity wine. This blend of two varieties was originally from the Northern Rhone. A little of the white grape Viognier softens Shiraz and adds an aromatic lift.

Yalumba, Australia's oldest family owned winery was founded in 1849 by Samuel Smith, an English brewer. He purchased a 30 acre parcel of land near Angaston, South Australia and called it "Yalumba", Aboriginal for "all the land around". Yalumba is based in the Eden Valley, a sub section of the Barossa Valley, Australia's greatest wine making region. Six generations, and 160 years later, Yalumba remains a hero of the region. With most of the Shiraz from the Barossa Valley and the Viognier primarily from close by in cool Eden Valley, the grapes are always perfectly ripe. Shiraz and Viognier grapes are fermented together to create balance and synergy. ‘The ideal spicy, brambly red..’ says Anthony Rose of The Independent (12th July 2008). Matthew Jukes has also listed this wine in his 100 Best Australian Wines in both 2007 and 2008.
