Green lighting

Energy-saving light bulbs are the obvious green option – but don’t forget solar lighting, too.

Did you know?

Fitting just one energy-saving light bulb can save you on average £3 a year - and by swapping all the light bulbs in your home for energy saving ones you could save around £45 per year.

Light bulb phase out

From the 1 September 2009, all pearl, frosted and white light bulbs were phased out, as part of new EU Legislation.

According to the Energy Saving Trust, the vast majority of the 600 million light bulbs in UK homes are inefficient tungsten filament bulbs. By phasing out these inefficient bulbs, we could make a real difference to our national energy consumption.

Energy-efficient light bulbs

Low-energy light bulbs save you money – and they come in all shapes and sizes:

  • Save up to £7 a year with every low-energy bulb.
  • Last 10 times longer than standard bulbs.
