Rules for ‘design an eco house’ competition

1.  The competition is open to all UK residents aged between 6 and 15 years at midnight on the closing date (5 October 2009), unless they are closely related to a Tesco or Forward staff member or anyone connected with this competition.

2.  Only one entry per child. Anyone sending in multiple entries will have all but their first entry disqualified.

3.  Entry to the competition is by designing an eco house. The house must be environmentally themed. The more inventive your designs, the better!

4.  The design must be solely the entrant’s own original work and must not be based on or copied from an existing image or design.

5.  The drawing can be in colour or black and white. Paints, pencils, pens, crayons or a combination may be used.

6.  All entries must be sent by post with a completed entry form to:

Entrants must include their name, age, postal address and email address and confirmation of parental or guardian consent.

7.  Entries must arrive by midnight on 5 October 2009. Postal entries that are post marked 5 October 2009 will be accepted. Late or illegible entries will be disqualified. Tesco can take no responsibility for any problem with the postal services or otherwise that may result in any entry being lost. Proof of posting is not proof of delivery.

8. (a) By completing the entry form, your parent/carer/guardian has given consent for your entry/drawing and agrees that it may be displayed on the Tesco Greener Living Everyday website.

8. (b) Entries will not be returned.

9.  The entries will be judged on the following criteria:

  • How well does the design represent greener living?
  • How well would the design work as a real house?
  • How creative and original is the design?

Each design will be judged against the above and given one overall score against all four elements on a scale 1-10:

1-2 Poor
3-4 Fair
5-6 Good
7-8 Very good
9-10 Excellent

10. Independent judges will choose the best design.

11. The prizes cannot be transferred and there is no cash alternative. In the event of the winner being unable to be contacted after reasonable attempts have been made, or if there has been any breach of the rules, Tesco reserves the right to select an alternative design as the winner, but it is not obliged to do so.

12. The winners will be notified within four weeks of the closing date by email or post. The winning design will be shown on the Tesco Greener Living website in October/November 2009. By entering the competition, entrants agree that in the event that they win, Tesco may display their entries and publish their names on the Tesco Greener Living website in October/November 2009.

13. Tesco reserves the right to cancel the competition or any of these rules at any stage, if deemed necessary in its opinion, or if circumstances arise outside of its control.

14. Tesco and Forward will only ever use personal details for the purposes of administering this competition, and will not publish them or provide them to anyone without permission. All information is held securely and will not be passed onto any other parties.
