Orla Kiely bags at Tesco

Celebrated designer Orla Kiely has exclusively designed a range of reusable shopping bags for Tesco…

A few years ago, we wouldn’t have thought twice about using the same shopping bag again and again. But the rise of the ‘reusable bag’ is now pretty much part of our daily lives – helped in part by them looking stylish and well-known names designing the bags.

Orla Kiely

This year, we’re really proud to announce an exclusive range of bags designed by Orla Kiely. Orla’s love of pattern, colour and texture, along with her instinctive graphic discipline always achieves bold, striking prints that are loved by so many.

The Scribble Pear design is the first of a range, which will follow on next year, available in our Extra stores. There are only a limited number being produced, but the juco bags will be available from early December.

Juco is a material technology that combines the strength and natural properties of jute with the finishing and texture of cotton fabric.

Raising money for charity

This new range of reusable shopping bags has been made to raise money for two charities: the UK’s leading children’s cancer charity CLIC Sargent* - Tesco Charity of the Year 2010 - and Orla’s personal charity, the Royal College of Art**, which funds bursaries for textile students.

Bags cost £4 and for each bag sold, a contribution of 50p of the sale price will be divided equally and paid to CLIC Sargent Cancer Care for Children* and the RCA**.
