Week 9: Chickens do Match of the Day

As the chickens become more ensconced in the Pearson family, the ongoing building work is starting to revolve around the chickens.

Ruby and I have been teaching the hens to sing! It might sound a little far-fetched, but I promise you they honestly do honk along to the Match of the Day theme tune!

Also, as part of the ongoing work to the house, I had promised myself a waste disposal unit. I’ve wanted one ever since I was a kid! However, I hadn’t factored the chickens into the equation, and now realise I don’t need one. Chickens are a far more friendly way to dispose of kitchen scraps.

We only give them things liked toast, bread, breakfast cereal and organic leftovers, such as potatoes and fruit, but it makes us feel so much better knowing that it’s not going in the bin.

Remember the chicken-keeping course we told you we were going on? Well, we’ve been advised not to go on the beginners’ course, but the advanced group… We’ll let you know how we get on in a couple of weeks!
