- Sonora Dodd, from Washington, is credited for beginning Father's Day in 1909 after she listened to a Mother's Day sermon. She wondered why fathers were not also celebrated as her father had raised her and her siblings alone after her mother had died during childbirth.
- Some scholars believe that Father's Day is much older than we actually believe it to be, saying that the custom of honoring dad's on a special day is over 4,000 years old. It is recorded that a young boy called Elmesu carved a Father's Day message on a card made out of clay nearly 4,000 years ago.
- In Thailand, Father's Day is set as the birthday of the king which is currently 5th December.
