Powerhouse Fitness is a trading name of Laidir Leisure Ltd, a Private Limited Company Registered in Scotland (No.SC71827).
Laidir Leisure Limited was established in 1980 by David P. Webster OBE. The word “Laidir” is Scottish Gaelic for “Strength”, which is very fitting for David, as the Scottish Highland Games, strength training and weightlifting continue to be his greatest passion. David is a world renowned historian of weightlifting, strength sports and highland games, and has been involved in sport and fitness since the 1940’s. He is author of over 40 books, is a world record holder, and was awarded an OBE for services to sport from Her Majesty the Queen at a ceremony in Buckingham Palace in 1995.
At 84 years of age, after a lifetime dedicated to sport and “physical culture”, David has been appointed President of the Commonwealth Games Committee for Scotland and looks forward to being Host President when then Games come to Glasgow in 2014.
In 1983 David’s son Nigel joined the business and in 1986 David junior joined him. In 1986 the company adopted the trading name ‘Powerhouse Fitness’.
In 1987, Powerhouse Fitness launched their first fitness store in Glasgow. In the early years, the company focused on commercial fitness products for sports clubs and gyms, while building a retail base in Glasgow. Powerhouse Fitness has gone from strength to strength, and with 12 shops now has the greatest national network of Specialist Fitness Stores in the UK
Delivery Service - *** IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT LARGE ITEMS ***
Our one man delivery service delivers your purchase to ground level. Depending on the delivery company and their individual health and safety policy, this may mean your goods are delivered to kerb side. Our delivery does not include the driver taking your purchase upstairs internally or externally. Drivers are not insured to enter your property. Our one man delivery service may require assistance from you to assist or move the goods from the drop off point into your home.
Please do not ask the delivery driver to lift heavy items without sufficient manpower, as this will often be in breach of Health & Safety legislation.
Powerhouse Fitness use a number of couriers for delivery of 'large items'. Delivery often only includes delivery to the kerbside immediately adjacent to the couriers vehicle. Most couriers regard inside delivery as an extra service and as such this is not included with all delivery options. It may be necessary for you to assist or move merchandise into your home. This is especially relevant if you live in a block of flats as couriers will only deliver to the ground floor entrance to the block.
Where possible, we recommend paying for two man delivery and installation on large items.
What is two man delivery?
This service is available for large items. Subject to good and safe access, the courier will place the product in the ground floor room of your choice. Please note: Due to Health & Safety regulations deliveries above or below ground floor are at the carriers discretion and are not guaranteed. This includes steps that are immediately outside the premises and are required to climb in order to gain access to the property.
Other delivery information
Scottish Highlands, Northern Ireland and all UK Islands may incur an additional charge and take longer. This includes postcodes beginning AB30, AB31, AB33. AB34, AB35, AB44, AB45, AB51, AB52, AB53 and AB54.
Please allow additional days for your delivery to take place when there are UK and respective Country Bank Holidays. Please also allow additional days in extreme/uncontrollable circumstances i.e. extreme weather conditions etc.
Next day delivery excludes those products delivered directly from the manufacturer
While we will make every endeavour to deliver your products on time, we cannot accept liability for any incidental expenses caused by late, failed or damaged deliveries, or for any damage caused to property while delivering or installing your goods or any loss of earnings.
We are happy to refund or exchange any product* returned within 28 days of purchase, as long as it is returned in its original state, unused and in original packaging. Proof of purchase is required. We will not be liable for any shipping costs incurred for returned goods.
We must be notified of your intention to cancel in writing. These options also do not apply to any nutritional supplements, software, DVDs, videos or books where the security or outer seals have been broken. Mail Order Returns/Ex. Display Models are classed as ‘one off’ ‘special order’ items. Any free gifts received with your order must be returned if an order is cancelled.
*This does not affect your rights if the product is faulty or misdescribed.
The cost of postage, packaging and insurance to return the goods will be borne by the customer and goods must be received by us in perfect condition and in their original packaging. The cost of delivering the goods will be deducted from any refund. There may be a re-stocking charge. If goods are not received back in perfect condition and in their original packaging, Powerhouse reserve the right not to accept the goods at our warehouse and/or not to issue a refund or credit. Any costs to redeliver the goods will be payable in advance by the customer. If the goods have been removed from their original packaging or assembled, your right to cancel may be forfeited.
Our standard 30 day online return options apply to goods purchased for domestic use only. These options do not apply to equipment purchased for use by a business, commercial equipment, or for any ‘special order’ items. Special order items, are goods that are not normally stocked by Powerhouse and have had to be ordered specifically for a customer.
All order cancellations or returns must be notified to us by e-mail only. If you wish to cancel or return goods please e-mail our customer service department at the address below and we will issue a Return Materials Authorisation (RMA). Goods must be returned to us within 7 days of receipt of RMA.
Goods that we don't normally stock, are not part of our core product line or are specially specified by customers are classed as 'made to consumer specification' and therefore are not covered by distance selling regulations.
