Liverpool FC On This Day is a diary style log of events that happened on each calendar day of the year. If something happened that was important in the Reds' life, you'll find it in here. How about May 25 2005 when AC Milan stood in the way of yet another European triumph? Or January 31 2011 when the Reds smashed their transfer record by signing Andy Carroll from Newcastle? And while July 12 1974 might not mean that much to fans from other clubs, it was the date that rocked Anfield to its very foundations with Bill Shankly announcing his retirement from football. Vital matches, shock transfers, cup matches and unforgettable moments that have shaped Liverpool FC into the world famous club it is today - plus so much more.
David Clayton has written numerous books on sport and ghosted several autobiographies including the best-selling Ollie: The Autobiography of Ian Holloway and Feed the Goat - The Shaun Goater Story. He has also authored numerous club miscellanies as well as books on rugby, snooker and judo. In 2007, he wrote an acclaimed biography on actor Richard Beckinsale, though his true passion is football writing and he recently added works on Liverpool and Notts County to his lengthy list of English clubs. He lives in Didsbury with his wife and three young children.
