"Trust Alfie Boe, formerly known as ‘The Nation’s Favourite Tenor’, to move further away from his traditional operatic repertoire as he presents a brand new album of timeless songs, sung just the way they should be. On ‘Trust’ – the follow up to hugely successful ‘Storyteller’ – Alfie Boe has never sounded so coolly contemporary as he applies his extraordinary gifts to a soulful set of country and blues, folk and gospel, standards and originals.
Alfie is joined by legendary producer Larry Klein (Joni Mitchell, Walter Becker, Tracey Chapman, Madeleine Peyroux) for classics such as, ‘Georgia On My Mind’, ‘You’ve Got A Friend’ and ‘Glory, Glory Hallelujah’. The ever-rebellious singer, who has always wanted to try his hand at different musical styles and forms, is happy to explain his musical journey:
“I was being hemmed in, and being controlled. And I don’t like that. I don’t like being told what to do. My mother’s the only one who can do that! I’m not closing the door to opera or musical theatre, I just don’t think it’s the right time to go back to that”
And in his restlessness Alfie continues to impress, stealing the show at last summer’s Jubilee Concert at Buckingham Palace and then releasing his best-selling autobiography ‘My Story’, which reveals the secrets of the struggles he has experienced working within the confines of an artistic milieu that values his talents in shows ranging from The Pearl Fishers to La Traviata, but at the same time stifles his genre-straddling, rule-trashing ambition"
