What is Grocery Click+Collect?
With Grocery Click+Collect you can order your groceries online and pick them up at a time you choose and at a location that suits you. There are over 350 collection locations to choose from which include Tesco stores, train stations and local businesses (bringing Click+Collect groceries closer to you). When you book a slot it will show the closest locations to you or the postcode you search for. Plus, it's FREE when you spend £40 or more and book a slot in advance.
How do I use Grocery Click+Collect?
Step 1 - Sign in
Go to tesco.com/groceries and register or sign in. You only need to register once. If you already have a Clubcard just enter the number when you register and all your regular Tesco store shopping will be waiting for you in ‘Favourites' to help make your first shop easier.
Step 2 - Book a slot
Choose the Grocery Click+Collect option and select the location you wish to collect from. You'll automatically be shown the closest collection locations to your home address. If you want to collect elsewhere you can enter a postcode to see the collection points. You can then select a collection slot for your chosen date and time.
Step 3 - Start shopping
The easiest way to start shopping is by using Favourites. If you don't have a Clubcard, you can use multi-search to search for a list of items or use the special offers page to see our best deals. Once you've done a few shops all your regular grocery items will be saved as "My Usuals". You can use "Last Order" to get quick access to items you last bought and the shopping list function lets you create a list of items that can be added to your basket at once.
Orders can be placed and amended up to 11pm the night before collection.
Step 4 - Collect your groceries
Simply pick up your groceries from your chosen location, at any time during the collection slot.
The position of the collection point varies by location. The collection location can be found by clicking on the "Collection Information" link on the collection slot page, it will also show on your order confirmation email.
Community collection points
As well as our store collections, we're opening collection points in community locations to make grocery shopping more convenient for you. These collection points are very similar to our store collection points and are found in a range of different places throughout the UK: car parks at schools, shopping centres, hotels and other local stores.
Your groceries are picked from a nearby store, giving you access to the full range in that store. Your groceries will be picked on the day of your collection and stored in a temperature controlled van ready for you to collect.
Unlike our store collection points, our van and customer assistants are only at the community collection point during slot times, so if you need anything outside these times you will need to call our Customer Service Team on 0800 323 4040 or 0330 123 4040
- How much does it cost?
Click+Collect is FREE when you book a slot in advance and spend £40* or more on orders placed on www.tesco.com/groceries or the Tesco Grocery Apps. A minimum basket charge of £4 will be added to your order if you spend less than £40. Same day Click+Collect trial is running in a select number of stores & £2 same day fee may apply. - How are my groceries stored before I collect them?
Your groceries are in good hands. Whether you're collecting from a store or community location, your groceries will be stored in a temperature controlled environment ensuring you receive the freshest produce.
Our trained pickers will pick your groceries on the day of collection before transferring them to the temperature controlled collection point. At the collection point (and on the journey there) your cupboard items are stored at room temperature, chilled items are stored in a fridge and your frozen items are stored in a freezer.
- Can I amend or cancel my Grocery Click+Collect order on the website?
You can amend your order by going to "My Orders" at www.tesco.com/groceries. Up until 11pm the night before collection you will be able to add/remove products to the order or change the collection slot. Don't forget to checkout the order again to ensure that all changes are saved.
If we have your mobile phone number, we will text you the day before your collection to let you know the latest time you can make any changes to your order. To check whether we have the correct mobile phone number for your account please go to "My Account" at www.tesco.com/groceries.
If needed, orders may also be cancelled via "My Orders" at www.tesco.com/groceries. Alternatively please call Customer Services on 0800 323 4040 or 0330 123 4040. An order can be cancelled up to 11pm on the night before collection.
- What happens if something I have ordered is not available?
On the rare occasion that a product you order is not available we'll try to offer you an alternative—we call this a substitution and show it at the top of your receipt. We put substitutions in yellow bags so you can easily identify them. You can hand back any unwanted items to the member of staff at the collection point for a full refund. You can update your substitution preferences by clicking on 'View full basket' as you shop.
We price match our substitutions so if we've substituted with a more expensive product than the one you ordered, we'll only charge you the price of the item you ordered.
- What do I do if I'm not happy with the substitute I am given or would like an item refunded?
Your substitutions will be presented at the top of the receipt and will be in yellow bags. If you choose to return the substitution the customer service assistant will process a refund at the collection point. You will need to go into a store if you would like to purchase an alternative product.
- When can I collect my shopping?
Available slots will be displayed when selecting your preferred collection location online and you can collect any time during the time slot you book. You can check in store or on our store locator for store collection point opening hours. For community locations you can see the available times when you go to book a slot.
- Where do I collect my shopping?
The exact position of the collection point varies by location. You can find the position of the collection point by clicking on the "Collection Information" link after you have selected your preferred location; you can also check your confirmation email which will show you where you need to go.
- What proof of ID do I need to bring?
Please bring your order number or the card you used online to pay for the goods. If you do not have either of these we will accept your Clubcard or photo ID. Unfortunately we will be unable to give you the shopping without any of these forms of ID.
If your order contains age restricted products, such as alcohol or tobacco, we will need to see valid photo ID (passport, photographic driving license, Portman card, citizen card, military ID card/Armed Forces Identity Card or Validate card).
For collections from the desk in store, you may be required to show your receipt when leaving the store. The customer assistant will hand this to you when you collect your shopping.
- Can somebody else collect my shopping for me?
Yes, if they have a copy of the confirmation email with order number. Unfortunately without this we will not be able to give them the shopping.
- What happens if I am late for my collection slot?
Please check with the member of staff at your collection point, and they will advise you on where to collect your shopping. If collecting from a community location please call Customer Services on 0800 323 4040 or 0330 123 4040 to make alternative arrangements.
- What happens if I am early for my collection slot?
Unfortunately we will not be able to serve you before your collection slot as your groceries are loaded into the collection point for the duration of your slot only.
- Will my shopping be in bags?
Your shopping will be in bags unless you select "pack my order without bags" at the online checkout. If you select bagless, please remember to bring your own bags.
- What happens if I select bagless but I forget to bring my bags?
Please ask for bags from the customer service assistant at the collection point.
Please note: By law we are required to charge for single-use carrier bags in Northern Ireland, Wales & Scotland. Therefore we are unable to provide carrier bags at the collection points in these countries.
- Will I still get Green Clubcard points if I choose bagless for collection?
You will earn 1 Clubcard point for every 10 items. Unfortunately this does not apply in Northern Ireland, Wales & Scotland due to the Government levy on single-use carrier bags.
- Do I have to arrive in a car for a drive through collection?
We recommend you drive to the collection point so that we can put your groceries straight into your car. However you can arrive using any method of transport, including by foot. Please be aware that the vehicle height limit is 2.8m.
