Recent new enclosures include a wonderful new walkthough lemur enclosure Lost Madagascar, Wilds of Asia exhibit which houses the Red Panda and Pileated Gibbons and Ussuri Falls for the critically endangered Amur leopard.
You can come face to face with the Dragons of Komodo. See white rhino, giraffes, ostrich and kudu roaming together at Kingdom of the Wild with a number of beautiful African Elephants in Spirit of Africa or walk underwater through the 24m tunnel underneath the Playa Patagonia sealion pool.
Learn more about the animals and see them up close by watching one of the 50 daily displays. You even get the fantastic opportunity to feed the elephants and giraffes yourself. Plus a soft play complex, outdoor adventure play areas including the massive new Kids Safari, road train and an interactive discovery centre where you can handle bugs!

We as a family have visited Colchester zoo on many occasions as it is a brilliant day out for all the family.We enjoy looking around at our own pace,there are plenty of places to sit down provided on the way round and various eateries,picnic areas and toilet blocks all around the zoo.The displays and activities on offer are spread out over the day at different times so you get the opportunity to see/participate in all of them.Our favourites have to be feeding the giraffes and elephants which even my 1 year old has done and the birds of prey display.Overall a great day out with plenty to do the only down side could be that some of the paths are quite steep,there are signs indicating these slopes and we have navigated them with a buggy.
