The Mid Hants Railway ‘Watercress Line’ is the perfect place for any age to visit all year round. You can experience history in motion as you travel by steam or heritage diesel train through 10 miles of beautiful Hampshire countryside between Alresford and Alton.
The line was closed in 1973 as part of Dr Beeching’s well-documented plan for the 'reshaping of British Railways'. Many dedicated volunteers helped to re-open the Watercress Line in 1977 from Alresford to Ropley and eventually the line was extended from Ropley to reach Alton in 1985.
Join the Watercress Line at Alresford or Alton stations. Refreshments, play area, gift shops, interpretative displays of the Old goods shed at Alresford and a 1950’s station master’s lounge at Ropley. Picnic areas available at Alresford and Ropley.
They’re open weekends from January to October, plus Bank holidays and Tuesdays to Thursdays from May to September, all week during August.

How it works

• Tokens cannot be used in food outlets or shops.
• Tokens may be used against standard admission, but cannot be used for special events and/or shows, group bookings, season tickets or annual memberships.
• A tokens is not a pre-booked ticket.
• Tokens cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer, scheme or promotion.
• Your token(s) should arrive within 5 working days.
• Orders should be made at least 28 days before you intend to book with a supplier or visit a partner.
• Tokens are valid for 6 months from issue.
•You must exchange your Clubcard vouchers for tokens, Clubcard vouchers will not be accepted by the supplier.
•Tokens are not transferable and will be issued with the name shown on your Clubcard vouchers and may be printed with your postcode.
• All standard Tesco.com and Clubcard scheme terms and conditions apply, these can be found on the website.
• Unused, expired and redeemed tokens issued after 13th August 2012 cannot be refunded, exchanged or returned. This does not affect your statutory rights.
• Tokens are not valid for events like ‘Day Out With Thomas’, ‘Santa Specials’ and all others. Dining, children’s birthday parties, footplate rides, driving experiences and group bookings are also excluded.
