RSPB Together for Trees

Rainforests are amazing. 70% of all land-based species live in them (that’s a whopping 6 million species) and they’re home to some of the most threatened species on the planet, including the Sumatran tiger, the pygmy hippo and the chimpanzee. And it’s not just the world’s wildlife that benefits from rainforests: people do too. Rainforests provide food, water and medicines, and act as carbon stores to help in the fight against climate change.

But rainforests are in trouble. Every four seconds an area the size of a football pitch is chopped down. They’re logged, often illegally, for timber and the land is then converted for the production of palm oil, soy, paper and other products.

The RSPB and its partners are currently working in seven countries to protect and restore 238,137 hectares of the world’s most endangered rainforests – that’s an area the same as 330,745 Wembley-sized football pitches. We want to save millions of trees and plant new ones where necessary to return these rainforests to their former glory. You can do your bit by donating your Clubcard vouchers to Together For Trees.
