Let your little one get creative helping you make these strange creatures, and then you can make up adventure stories for them.

Step by step

Blowpaint Beastie

Blowpaint Beastie

You will need:

- Blue and red paint (or any other colours!)

- Bowls

- Thick paintbrush or spoon

- Card

- Drinking straw

- Stickers (or googly eyes!)

Step by step

- Put the paints in separate bowls and dilute with water so they're runny.

- Using a thick brush or small spoon, place two large blobs of paint next to each other in the centre of a piece of card.

- Your tot can then use the drinking straw to blow the blobs into one another, to make a 'monster'.

- Use one end of the straw as a paintbrush to draw out arms, legs, antennae and any other 'limbs' she fancies! Then leave your monster in a warm place to dry.

- Once dry, position stickers for eyes at the end of the 'eye' antennae.

Little Mr Spiky

Little Mr Spiky

You will need:

- Wrapping paper

- Card

- Glue

- Pencil

- Scissors

- White stickers

Step by step

- Glue colourful wrapping paper onto a piece of card - an old cereal box is perfect.

- Draw the outline of a monster shape then help your toddler cut it out.

- Score a fold a little up from the bottom of the monster and cut out two feet. Fold the feet forwards and the rest of this section back to form a stand.

- Draw and cut out eyes and a mouth from plain card and glue on.

- Use white stickers for teeth and whites of the eyes, then colour the centres.

Spotty Herbert

Spotty Herbert

You will need:

- Rectangular box

- Coloured stickers

- Pencil

- Coloured card

- Glue

- Sticky tape

- Pipe cleaners

- White stickers

- Black felt tip pen

Step by step

- Undo a long rectangular box (such as a biscuit carton), turn it inside out and lay it flat.

- Get your tot to decorate the box with stickers.

- Draw big eyes, mouth and arms on coloured card, cut them out and stick them into position on one side of the box. Then tape the box back together, decorated side out.

- Coil a pipe cleaner around a pencil. Make two holes in the top of the box and stick the pipe cleaners through for antennae.

- Stick circular white stickers on the eyes then colour in the middle, and the inside of the mouth, in black.
