The sauce is very quick and easy to prepare but it tastes really delicious.

Method

1. Heat half the oil and sauté the onion for 5 minutes until softened but not coloured. Add the garlic and sauté for 1 minute, then set aside to cool.
2. Mix the beef, apple, breadcrumbs, parsley and ketchup together in a bowl. Add half of the cooled onion and garlic to the meatball mixture. Season with a little salt and pepper, then shape into 24 small meatballs.
3. Heat the remaining oil in a frying pan. Slowly cook the meatballs for about 10 minutes until they are golden and cooked through.
4. Boil the noodles according to the packet instructions, and drain.
5. Add the sauce ingredients to the remaining onion and garlic. Bring up to the boil and simmer for 2 minutes until it has reduced slightly. Mix the sauce with the noodles and serve with the meatballs on top.

Ingredients

Meatballs
1 tbsp sunflower oil
1 red onion, chopped
1 garlic clove, crushed
225g lean minced beef
50g apple, grated
30g fresh breadcrumbs
1 tbsp parsley, chopped
2 tsp tomato ketchup
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
200g medium egg noodles

Sauce
2 tbsp soy sauce
4 tbsp tomato ketchup
1 tbsp rice wine vinegar
2 tsp brown sugar
150ml water
2 tsp cornflour, mixed with a little water
