Baked bananas with dates and chocolate buttons

Description

Bananas are easy to digest and provide an excellent source of potassium and magnesium which helps control the balance of fluids in the body. This recipe also works well with apples. Simply remove the core and fill with dates and chocolate – you will need to bake them for slightly longer, though.

Cooking time:

Method

  1. Make a slit lengthways in each banana, not quite cutting all the way through.
  2. Fill each banana with chopped dates and 1 small bag's worth of chocolate buttons. Wrap each banana loosely in foil. Place on a baking sheet.
  3. Cook in a preheated oven (200ºC/400ºF/Gas Mark 6) for 15 mins. Unwrap the foil (careful, the foil will be hot!) and leave to cool slightly before serving to your toddler.

Ingredients

  • 4 ripe bananas
  • 4 dates, stoned and finely chopped
  • 4 small bags (approx 20g each) chocolate buttons
