Cooking time:

Method

  1. Preheat oven (200°C/400°F/Gas Mark 6). Rub a little butter into an ovenproof dish.
  2. Sieve the flour and cinnamon into a large bowl.
  3. Cut the butter into small pieces and stir into the flour. Using fingertips, rub the butter into the flour. Keep rubbing the mixture together until it looks like coarse breadcrumbs. Do this quickly, because the longer you touch the butter, the hotter it will become and your mixture may become greasy. If this happens, pop it in the fridge for 5 mins and then continue. Stir in the sugar.
  4. Put the fruit into a separate large bowl. Sprinkle over the orange juice and rind and mix with your hands. Tip everything into the buttered dish to create a layer of fruit.
  5. Sprinkle the crumble mixture on top of the fruit and spread it out so all the fruit is covered. Cook for 25-30 mins, until the crumble top is crisp and golden and the blackberry juices are bubbling up nicely around the edges.
  6. Allow the crumble to cool for a few minutes. Then serve it with custard or a healthy dollop of thick natural yogurt. Delicious!
