About the www.tesco.com/access grocery service.
The Tesco.com Access Grocery Service is designed for:
- Customers who are visually-impaired, who may use access technologies such as a voice screen reader, or who wish to override the default font sizes and page colours so it is clearer to their eyes.
- Customers who use an Internet set-top box connected to a standard television rather than a fully-fledged computer to access the Internet.
- Customers who use a hand-held device such as a Personal Data Assistant or Pocket PC where the screen format is small and may have a tall rather than wide display.
- Customers with a slow Internet data connection such
that available over a mobile cellular phone network.
Our design philosophy has been to create a web service that provides a simple but effective product searching and ordering service that works with many different makes and models of web browser.
In creating the design, we use HTML to v3.2 standard but without the use of framesets, graphics (beyond our logo!), cascading style sheets, and browser scripts (such as JavaScript). We've also sought to keep the HTML code as short as possible so that pages are available quickly over a slow Internet connection.
We hope you enjoy using this grocery service. We are keen to hear your views so drop us a line at online@tesco.co.uk.
