Las Cometas Sauvignon Blanc Reserva 2011, Chile, 12.5%
This is an absolute cracker, with wonderful mouthwatering crispness-Made from Sauvignon Blanc grown in Chile’s Central Valley, this reserva wine is packed with lovely lemon and lime flavours-Fantastically ripe too- Serve nicely chilled, with pan-fried fish.
Jacktone Ranch Pinot Grigio Reserve 2012, USA, 12%
Pinot Grigio travels well, and seems especially relaxed in sunny California- Packed with delicious flavours of citrus and pear with a floral hint, this is really ripe and fresh-Serve chilled, with pasta or fishcakes.
Mar del Sur Chardonnay 2011, Chile, 13%
Another winning wine from Chile’s abundant and sun-soaked vineyards, this time made from the Chardonnay grape- Here, it brings out the peach and lemon flavours, balanced with real freshness- A good match is chicken tagine or fish pie.
Origin Chenin Blanc 2012, South Africa, 12.5%
Chenin Blanc is South Africa’s most famous white grape and this lovely citrus-scented white is star-bright- Crisp with green-apple flavours, it makes a great apéritif, needing nothing more than a bowl of nibbles-Also works a dream with roast chicken.
Faustino Rivero Rioja Blanco 2012, Spain, 12%
Made from the delicious Viura grape, this refreshing dry white shows a very different – and often overlooked – side to Rioja-Loaded with crisp apple and tropical fruit flavours, this wine is great with seafood and salads.
Swingbridge Chardonnay 2012, Australia, 13%
Australia is certainly hot, but many of its wine regions are relatively cool, including the Margaret River in Western Australia- With intense white peach and apricot flavours, thanks to slow-ripening grapes, this is one classy Chardonnay- Superb with a seafood risotto.
