South Africa is becoming the go-to country for top-quality, great-value Chenin Blanc and this lovely citrus scented white is really superb- Bright and crisp, with green-apple flavours, this is fantastic before dinner or teamed with grilled chicken or simple fish dishes.

Viña Albali Gran Reserva Selección Privada 2006, Spain, 13%
Made from bright, juicy Tempranillo grapes grown in Valdepeñas in Spain, this is a great Gran Reserva crammed with blackberries and a hint of spice- Time spent ageing in oak has added wonderfully mellow vanilla flavours too- Perfect with barbecued beef.
DGS The Second Pass Shiraz 2010, Australia, 13.5%
A big, bold red from Australia, called ‘The Second Pass’ because it has been passed over the skins of dried grapes- This adds extra layers of flavour to this black-fruit-laden Shiraz, including blueberries and dark chocolate- Really good with slow-roasted lamb.
Cave Bel Air 2009, France, 13%
One of the leading producers in Bordeaux, Maison Sichel, has created this blend of (mostly) Merlot with some Cabernet Sauvignon- The result is a balanced wine with delicious berry aromas, ripe black-fruit flavours and a hint of coffee and spice-A great match for pulled pork.
