Lifted aromas of nettles, snow peas, guava and flint characters.
The palate has a citrus and grapefruit approach followed by a mineral mid palate, elegant texture and a long finish.
This wine is ideal for drinking now but can be kept for up to 1 year
A relative newcomer, this quietly brilliant Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is fantastic value for money. It is utterly delicious, with ripe, tropical fruits including guava, melon and passion fruit. Sourced from the South Island’s Wairau and Awatere Valleys, this wine is wonderfully bright and generous on the palate, with great length of flavour. For best results, serve with dressing-drenched salads or Asian foods.
Established in 2001, Waipara Hills wines have become famous for their intensity, character and complexity – a result of the innate contrasts in climate in New Zealand’s deep South. Nestled in the heart of the Waipara Valley is the architecturally impressive Mud House Winery & Cafe complex – the home of the Waipara Hills winery. Located on State Highway 1, 8kms north of Amberley and just 40 minutes drive north of Christchurch city the building and gardens complement the spectacular views of the vineyards and mountains.
Simon McGeorge
Located on the North Eastern coast of the South Island of New Zealand, Marlborough is protected from the prevailing westerly weather by the dramatic Southern Alps. This protection afforded to the vines by the surrounding area and the alluvial soil (loose deposits of silt, clay, sand and gravel) make this an excellent region for the cultivation of the Sauvignon Blanc grapes.

Very much what you would expect of a mid range NZ sauvignon blanc. Does what it says on the tin.

I bought the red wine initially as a try for the area and then tried the white. I usually purchase a very popular white from NZ but this surpasses that famous make. The taste seems to hit your tastebuds immediately with freshness and I still think there is a hint of gooseberry even when it says citrus and grapefruit. I took a bottle to my twin sister who really enjoyed it so I bought her a case! Worth trying.
